Title
Adaferin 0.1% Adapalene Gel for Acne and Pimple Treatment
Prescription drug
About
Adaferin 0.1% Gel is a topical prescription medicine used in the treatment of mild to moderate acne (pimples), including blackheads, whiteheads, and inflamed spots on the face, chest, or back. It contains Adapalene (0.1% w/w), a retinoid-like compound derived from Vitamin A, manufactured by Galderma India Pvt Ltd. It is suitable for patients 12 years and older.
Usage Instructions
Wash the affected area with a gentle cleanser and pat dry thoroughly. Apply a thin layer of Adaferin Gel to the affected skin once daily, preferably at bedtime. Avoid contact with eyes, lips, nostrils, mouth, and broken skin. Wash hands before and after application.
Benefits
Reduces acne pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads
Unblocks clogged pores by reducing excess sebum production
Promotes natural exfoliation and renewal of skin cells
Reduces redness, swelling, and skin inflammation
Improves overall skin texture and clarity with regular use
How It Works
Adapalene works by loosening skin cells on the surface and unblocking pores, thereby reducing oil (sebum) build-up. It promotes natural exfoliation of the outer skin layers and supports the formation of new, healthy skin cells. This prevents the formation of new comedones (blocked pores) and reduces the inflammatory response associated with acne.
Side Effects
Common side effects include skin dryness, irritation, redness, scaling, and a mild burning sensation, especially in the first few weeks of use. These typically reduce as the skin adjusts. Avoid prolonged sun exposure as Adapalene increases photosensitivity.
Safety Advice
Apply sunscreen (SPF 30+) and wear protective clothing when going outdoors during treatment.
Do not use on eczema, sunburned, windburned, chapped, or broken skin.
Not recommended during pregnancy (Category C) — consult your doctor.
Do not combine with other acne products containing benzoyl peroxide or erythromycin simultaneously — use Adaferin at night and other products in the morning.
Avoid wax epilation on treated skin areas.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
