About: Alsita EM 10/1000 Tablet 10's is a triple-combination antidiabetic medicine containing empagliflozin, metformin and sitagliptin, used to manage blood glucose levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.
Usage Instructions: Take the tablet with food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects, usually once or twice daily as prescribed; swallow whole with water and do not crush or chew.
Benefits: Provides complementary mechanisms to reduce blood sugar, helping achieve better glycaemic control and lowering the risk of diabetes-related complications when combined with diet and exercise.
How it Works: Empagliflozin (SGLT2 inhibitor) increases urinary glucose excretion, metformin reduces hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, and sitagliptin (DPP-4 inhibitor) enhances incretin-mediated insulin release and reduces glucagon.
Side Effects: Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, diarrhoea), urinary tract or genital infections, headache and hypoglycaemia (especially with other antidiabetics) may occur; rare serious effects include lactic acidosis and pancreatitis.
Safety Advice: Use strictly under medical supervision; not for type 1 diabetes or ketoacidosis; caution in renal or hepatic impairment, dehydration, recurrent infections and elderly patients; limit alcohol intake and follow scheduled monitoring.
Storage: Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and heat; keep the blister packs out of reach of children.
