About: Anti Thyrox 5mg Tablet contains carbimazole, an antithyroid agent used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism and to prepare patients for thyroid surgery or radioactive iodine therapy.
Usage Instructions: Take the tablet by mouth with water, with or without food, in the dose and frequency prescribed; doses are often divided through the day initially and adjusted based on thyroid function tests.
Benefits: Helps reduce excess thyroid hormone production, alleviating symptoms like palpitations, weight loss, heat intolerance and tremors and helping restore normal thyroid function.
How it Works: Carbimazole is converted to methimazole (thiamazole), which inhibits thyroid peroxidase‑mediated iodination and coupling reactions, thereby reducing synthesis of thyroid hormones T3 and T4.
Side Effects: Nausea, rash, joint pain or mild gastrointestinal upset can occur; rare but serious agranulocytosis (low white cells) manifesting as fever or sore throat requires immediate discontinuation and urgent evaluation.
Safety Advice: Use strictly under endocrinologist supervision; regular blood counts and thyroid function tests are needed; avoid in pregnancy unless the benefit outweighs risk and discuss contraception while on therapy.
Storage: Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place away from light and moisture; keep the container tightly closed and out of children’s reach.
