AboutApixaheart 5 Tablet contains Apixaban 5mg, an anticoagulant (blood thinner) used to prevent stroke, blood clots in atrial fibrillation, and prevent/treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).Usage Instructions: Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, usually twice daily with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Take at the same times daily. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice (increased clot risk). Continue for prescribed duration. For DVT/PE treatment: typically 10mg twice daily for 7 days, then 5mg twice daily.Benefits: Prevents stroke and systemic embolism in non-valvular atrial fibrillation (reduces risk by ~60% vs warfarin), prevents DVT/PE after hip/knee replacement surgery, treats existing DVT and PE, prevents recurrent clots, reduces risk of cardiovascular events, provides effective anticoagulation with lower bleeding risk and no routine monitoring required. How it Works: Apixaban is a selective, reversible direct Factor Xa inhibitor. It binds to active site of Factor Xa, blocking conversion of prothrombin to thrombin and subsequent fibrin clot formation. Inhibits both free and clot-bound Factor Xa. Reduces thrombus formation and prevents clot extension. Predictable pharmacokinetics; no routine monitoring needed.Side Effects: Common: bleeding (minor: nosebleeds, gum bleeding, easy bruising), anemia, nausea, elevated liver enzymes. Serious: major bleeding (GI, intracranial, retroperitoneal), spinal/epidural hematoma (with neuraxial anesthesia or lumbar puncture), severe hypersensitivity reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis), thrombocytopenia, hepatic injury.Safety Advice: Significantly increased bleeding risk; avoid high-risk activities and contact sports. Inform all healthcare providers and dentists you are on anticoagulant. Do not discontinue abruptly (increased thrombotic risk). Use extreme caution in severe kidney impairment (CrCl 15-29 mL/min), liver disease, elderly (>80 years), or low body weight (<60 kg). Avoid concomitant use of dual antiplatelets, NSAIDs, or other anticoagulants unless essential. Report signs of bleeding (unusual bruising, black/tarry stools, blood in urine, coughing blood, severe headache, weakness, dizziness) immediately. Not for use in pregnancy or breastfeeding. Carry medical alert identification. Avoid grapefruit juice.Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep in original packaging. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use if packaging is damaged.
