AboutEldamet GP2 Tablet is a combination of Glimepiride 2mg and Metformin 500mg used to improve blood sugar control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when dual therapy is required.Usage Instructions: Take once or twice daily with meals, or as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Take consistently at the same time(s) daily with food to reduce GI upset. Individualize dose based on glycemic response and tolerability.Benefits: Improves glycemic control in type 2 diabetes, lowers fasting and postprandial blood glucose, reduces HbA1c by 1.5-2.5%, stimulates insulin secretion (glimepiride), improves insulin sensitivity (metformin), reduces hepatic glucose production, delays diabetes complications.How it Works: Glimepiride stimulates pancreatic beta cells to release insulin by blocking ATP-sensitive potassium channels. Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal glucose absorption, and improves peripheral insulin sensitivity. Together they provide complementary glucose-lowering mechanisms.Side Effects: Common: hypoglycemia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, metallic taste, headache, dizziness, weight gain (glimepiride). Serious: severe/prolonged hypoglycemia, lactic acidosis (rare), liver dysfunction, hemolytic anemia in G6PD deficiency, vitamin B12 deficiency with long-term use.Safety Advice: Monitor blood glucose regularly. Recognize and treat hypoglycemia (carry glucose tablets). Avoid excessive alcohol. Use caution in elderly, kidney or liver disease. Monitor kidney function and vitamin B12 levels. Contraindicated in type 1 diabetes, DKA, severe renal impairment, or metabolic acidosis. Inform doctor of illness, surgery, or unusual fatigue.Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place.
