About
Extensior 0.25mg Prefilled Pen is a prescription injectable medicine containing Semaglutide 0.25mg, a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. It is a once-weekly subcutaneous injection used as a starting dose for adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve blood sugar control, and for long-term weight management in adults and adolescents (12 years and older) with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related health condition. Each pen contains 4 doses (1.5ml), providing one month of treatment.

Usage Instructions
Inject once weekly subcutaneously (under the skin) in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Inject on the same day each week at any time of day, with or without food. Rotate injection sites each week. Use only after proper training from your healthcare provider. Do not share the pen with others.

Benefits
Improves blood sugar (glycaemic) control in type 2 diabetes
Supports long-term weight management when combined with diet and exercise
Reduces cardiovascular risk (heart attack, stroke) in high-risk patients
Convenient once-weekly dosing with a prefilled pen
Low starting dose minimises side effects while allowing gradual dose escalation

How It Works
Semaglutide mimics the natural GLP-1 hormone. It stimulates insulin release from the pancreas only when blood sugar is elevated (glucose-dependent), suppresses glucagon secretion (which would otherwise raise blood sugar), slows gastric emptying (making you feel full longer), and acts on the brain to reduce appetite and food cravings. These actions collectively lower blood sugar and support weight loss.

Side Effects
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, stomach pain, constipation, headache, dizziness, and altered taste. These are usually temporary and improve as the body adjusts. Serious but rare side effects include pancreatitis, severe allergic reactions, diabetic retinopathy, kidney problems, and gallbladder disease.

Safety Advice
Do not use if you or a family member has a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
Not suitable for type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding — stop at least 2 months before planning conception.
Not recommended for children under 12 years.
Seek immediate help for severe abdominal pain (possible pancreatitis), vision changes, or neck lumps.
Avoid alcohol as it affects blood sugar control.
Requires refrigeration before first use (cold chain product).

Storage
Store unused pens in a refrigerator at 2°C–8°C. Do not freeze. After first use, the pen can be stored at room temperature (below 30°C) or refrigerated for up to 56 days. Protect from heat and direct sunlight.
