AboutGemidipine 20MG Tablet contains Cilnidipine 20mg, a calcium channel blocker used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and provide cardiovascular and renal protection.Usage Instructions: Take once daily at the same time, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Continue even if feeling well. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice. Take consistently at the same time daily.Benefits: Effectively lowers high blood pressure (higher dose for resistant hypertension), reduces risk of stroke, heart attack, and cardiovascular events, provides renal protection and reduces proteinuria (unique N-type channel blockade), improves endothelial function and arterial stiffness, provides 24-hour blood pressure control, suitable for patients with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic syndrome, fewer reflex tachycardia and edema compared to some other CCBs.How it Works: Cilnidipine selectively blocks both L-type and N-type voltage-gated calcium channels. L-type blockade in vascular smooth muscle cells prevents calcium influx, causing vasodilation and reducing systemic vascular resistance. N-type blockade in sympathetic nerve terminals inhibits norepinephrine release, reducing sympathetic tone, providing additional blood pressure lowering, and protecting kidneys from sympathetic overactivity. Dual blockade provides superior blood pressure control, reduced heart rate, and organ protection.Side Effects: Common: headache, dizziness, flushing, peripheral edema (ankle/foot swelling; less than other dihydropyridines), palpitations, fatigue, nausea, constipation, gingival hyperplasia, rash. Serious: severe hypotension, reflex tachycardia (less common), angina exacerbation, myocardial infarction (rare), arrhythmias, severe allergic reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis), hepatotoxicity, gingival overgrowth.Safety Advice: Use caution in elderly, hepatic impairment, heart failure, or aortic stenosis. May cause dizziness or lightheadedness; avoid driving or operating machinery initially. Monitor blood pressure and heart rate regularly. Inform doctor of chest pain, irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, syncope, or worsening edema. Grapefruit juice may increase cilnidipine levels; avoid or limit consumption. Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Do not discontinue abruptly (rebound hypertension). Use caution in patients with severe hypotension (SBP <90 mmHg).Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from light and moisture. Keep in original packaging. Keep out of reach of children. Do not remove from blister until ready to use.
