AboutGemisartan AM Tablet is a combination of Telmisartan 40mg and Amlodipine 5mg used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and provide comprehensive cardiovascular protection.Usage Instructions: Take once daily at the same time, with or without food. Swallow whole with water; do not crush or chew. Continue even if feeling well. Do not stop suddenly without medical advice. Take consistently at the same time daily.Benefits: Effectively lowers high blood pressure with dual mechanism, reduces risk of stroke, heart attack, and cardiovascular death, provides better BP control than monotherapy, treats chronic stable angina (amlodipine), provides renal protection (telmisartan), reduces proteinuria, provides 24-hour BP control, suitable for patients with diabetes, chronic kidney disease, or coronary artery disease.How it Works: Telmisartan blocks angiotensin II receptors (ARB), causing vasodilation and reducing aldosterone secretion. Amlodipine blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, causing vasodilation and reducing peripheral resistance. Together they provide synergistic blood pressure reduction through complementary pathways (RAAS inhibition + calcium channel blockade), with enhanced cardiovascular and renal protection.Side Effects: Common: dizziness, headache, fatigue, peripheral edema (ankle swelling), flushing, palpitations, constipation, nausea, back pain, upper respiratory infection. Serious: severe hypotension, acute kidney injury, hyperkalemia, angioedema (rare), severe allergic reactions, myocardial infarction (rare), liver dysfunction.Safety Advice: Contraindicated in pregnancy (ARBs cause fetal toxicity), severe kidney disease, or hypersensitivity. Use caution in diabetes, liver disease, heart failure, or electrolyte imbalances. Monitor blood pressure, kidney function, and potassium levels regularly. May increase potassium; avoid potassium supplements or salt substitutes containing potassium unless prescribed. Grapefruit juice may increase amlodipine levels. Inform doctor of dizziness, fainting, muscle weakness, irregular heartbeat, swelling, or decreased urination. Maintain adequate hydration.Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place.
