Title
Lexanox Cream 5 g
Prescription drug
Composition
: Amlexanox 50 mg per 5 g (some presentations also contain Lidocaine 20 mg/5 g; check exact variant on pack)
About:
Lexanox Cream/Oral Paste 5 g is an anti‑inflammatory preparation used for the treatment of recurrent mouth ulcers (aphthous ulcers). It contains amlexanox, and some variants also include lidocaine to provide local pain relief at the ulcer site.
Usage Instructions Dry the affected area gently, apply a thin layer of the paste directly over the ulcer using a clean finger or applicator, usually 3–4 times daily or as directed. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after application to allow formation of a protective film.
Benefits Helps reduce pain, redness and inflammation of mouth ulcers and may shorten healing time. The protective layer shields the lesion from further irritation by food, teeth and tongue movement.
How it Works Amlexanox inhibits release of inflammatory mediators at the ulcer site, reducing local inflammation and discomfort. When lidocaine is present, it provides rapid surface anaesthesia by blocking nerve conduction, further easing pain.
Side Effects May cause temporary stinging, burning, numbness or altered taste at the application site. Discontinue and seek medical advice if severe irritation, swelling, breathing difficulty or rash develops.
Safety Advice Use only inside the mouth; do not apply to large areas, eyes or broken skin elsewhere. Pregnant or breastfeeding women and children should use only under medical supervision and as prescribed.
Storage Store the tube tightly closed at room temperature away from heat and direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children and do not freeze.
