Melalite 15 Cream 30gm

Prescription drug
Manufacturer / Marketer : ABBOTT INDIA LTD
About
Melalite 15 Cream is a prescription skin-lightening cream containing Hydroquinone 2%, Octinoxate 9%, and Oxybenzone 2.5%. It is used in the treatment of hyperpigmentation conditions including melasma, chloasma, dark spots, freckles, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and uneven skin tone. It simultaneously lightens dark patches and provides UV protection to prevent further pigmentation. It is for external use only and suitable for patients 12 years and older.

Usage Instructions
Wash the affected area with a gentle cleanser and pat dry. Apply a small amount of Melalite 15 Cream to the affected area twice daily, or as directed by your doctor. Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and mucous membranes. Wash hands before and after application.

Benefits
Lightens dark spots, melasma patches, and hyperpigmented areas
Provides broad-spectrum UV protection to prevent further sun-induced darkening
Helps restore a more even and uniform skin tone
Reduces post-acne marks and age spots
Offers reversible depigmentation with minimal systemic absorption

How It Works
Hydroquinone inhibits the enzyme tyrosinase, which is essential for melanin synthesis in melanocytes, thereby reducing the production and accumulation of melanin in treated skin. This leads to gradual, reversible lightening of dark patches. Octinoxate and Oxybenzone are UV-absorbing sunscreen agents that absorb ultraviolet rays, protecting treated skin from further UV-induced melanin stimulation and sunburn.

Side Effects
Common side effects include a burning sensation, skin irritation, redness, itching, and stinging at the application site. If severe irritation, excessive inflammation, or skin discolouration develops, discontinue use and consult a doctor immediately.

Safety Advice
Avoid sun exposure on treated areas; always use additional sunscreen (SPF 30+) and protective clothing when outdoors.
Do not apply on broken, sunburned, windburned, or irritated skin.
Consult a doctor before use during pregnancy — safety data is limited.
Not recommended for children under 12 without medical supervision.
Do not use for longer than prescribed without medical review.
If no improvement after 2 months of use, discontinue and consult your doctor.

Storage
Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place. Keep away from direct sunlight. Do not freeze.
