Melanocyl Tablet contains methoxsalen 10 mg and is used along with ultraviolet A (UVA) light therapy (PUVA) to treat vitiligo and psoriasis, and in certain cases of cutaneous T‑cell lymphoma. It helps repigment discoloured skin patches and reduce scaling and redness under strict dermatological supervision.
Usage Instructions Take the tablet orally with food or milk at the exact time and dose prescribed, usually a set number of hours before UVA exposure. Follow all instructions regarding protective eyewear and skin shielding during and after light therapy to prevent burns and eye damage.
Benefits Promotes repigmentation of vitiligo patches and improves psoriatic lesions when combined with controlled UVA therapy. Can also help manage certain skin manifestations of lymphoma where photochemotherapy is indicated.
How it Works Methoxsalen is a psoralen that intercalates with DNA in skin cells and, upon UVA activation, forms cross‑links that modify cell proliferation and immune responses.
