AboutPruvict Liquid Oral contains Lactulose, a synthetic sugar used to treat chronic constipation and hepatic encephalopathy by improving bowel movements and reducing ammonia levels.Usage Instructions: Take orally as directed by your doctor, usually once or twice daily. May be mixed with water, fruit juice, or milk to improve taste. Take with meals for constipation; on empty stomach for hepatic encephalopathy.Benefits: Relieves chronic constipation, softens stools, increases bowel movement frequency, treats hepatic encephalopathy by reducing blood ammonia levels, improves mental status in liver disease. How it Works: Lactulose is not absorbed in the gut. It draws water into the colon by osmosis, softening stools and stimulating bowel movements. In liver disease, gut bacteria break down lactulose to acids that trap ammonia, which is then excreted in feces.Side Effects: Common: bloating, gas, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, nausea. Serious: severe or persistent diarrhea, electrolyte imbalance (low potassium, high sodium), dehydration, worsening of galactosemia.Safety Advice: Not for use in galactosemia or intestinal obstruction. Use caution in diabetes (contains sugars). Maintain adequate fluid intake. Long-term use may cause electrolyte disturbances. Inform doctor of persistent diarrhea or abdominal pain.Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place. Protect from light and heat. Do not freeze. Keep bottle tightly closed. Discard if solution becomes very dark or cloudy.
