Riswel MD 2 mg Tablet 10 Tablets
Prescription drug
About:
Riswel MD 2 mg Tablet is an orally disintegrating tablet containing risperidone 2 mg, an atypical antipsychotic used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and irritability associated with autism, as prescribed by a psychiatrist. The mouth‑dissolving form is useful for patients who have difficulty swallowing conventional tablets or for easier administration under supervision.
Usage Instructions Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve; swallow the dissolved contents, with or without water, as directed. Take at the same time each day and do not alter dose or discontinue abruptly without medical advice, as symptoms may worsen.
Benefits Helps reduce hallucinations, delusions, disorganised thinking and mood symptoms, improving social functioning and quality of life. The MD (mouth dissolving) formulation can improve adherence in patients who struggle with regular tablets.
How it Works Risperidone works by modulating dopamine and serotonin receptors in the brain, helping to correct neurotransmitter imbalances associated with psychotic and mood disorders. This leads to improvement in both positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia and mood stabilisation.
Side Effects Common side effects include weight gain, drowsiness, dizziness, extrapyramidal symptoms (tremor, stiffness), increased prolactin (breast changes, menstrual irregularities) and metabolic changes. Seek immediate medical help for severe muscle stiffness, confusion, high fever (possible neuroleptic malignant syndrome), seizures or uncontrolled movements.
Safety Advice Use cautiously in patients with cardiovascular disease, diabetes, seizures, kidney or liver impairment and in elderly with dementia‑related psychosis. Avoid alcohol and activities requiring full alertness until individual response is known.
Storage Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat, in the original blister. Keep out of reach of children.
