Title
Tofajak 5mg Autoimmune Tablet 10s
Prescription drug
About:
Tofajak 5mg Tablet 10s contains tofacitinib and is used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and ulcerative colitis when other treatments are inadequate. It is a targeted synthetic disease‑modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) from the Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor class.
Usage Instructions
Take the tablet exactly as prescribed, usually 5mg twice daily or as directed by your specialist. Swallow with water, with or without food, and do not change or stop the dose without medical advice.
Benefits
Reduces joint pain, swelling, and stiffness and slows progression of joint damage in inflammatory arthritis. In ulcerative colitis, it improves symptoms like diarrhoea and rectal bleeding and helps maintain remission.
How it Works
Tofacitinib selectively inhibits JAK enzymes involved in signalling of pro‑inflammatory cytokines. Blocking the JAK‑STAT pathway decreases immune over‑activity and inflammation in affected tissues.
Side Effects
Common side effects include diarrhoea, headache, upper respiratory infection, nausea, and elevated cholesterol. Serious risks include severe infections, blood clots, low blood counts, and liver changes; regular monitoring is required.
Safety Advice
Baseline tests for TB, hepatitis, blood counts, and lipids are recommended, with periodic follow‑up. Avoid live vaccines and inform your doctor if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or with a history of recurrent infections.
Storage
Store below 30°C in a dry place away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
