Prescription drug
Manufacturer / Marketer : ABBOTT SPLTY
About
Tribet 2 Tablet is a prescription anti-diabetic medicine manufactured by Abbott India Ltd. It contains a triple combination of Glimepiride 2mg, Metformin 500mg, and Pioglitazone 15mg, used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. It is indicated for patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled with diet, exercise, or single/dual antidiabetic agents alone. The three-drug combination ensures comprehensive and long-lasting glycaemic control.

Usage Instructions
Take as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Take with or immediately after food to minimise the risk of stomach upset and hypoglycaemia. Do not crush or chew. Take at the same time each day. Never stop without doctor's advice.

Benefits
Provides comprehensive blood sugar control through three complementary mechanisms
Reduces fasting and post-meal blood glucose levels
Decreases HbA1c levels, indicating long-term sugar control
Enhances insulin sensitivity in muscle, liver, and fat cells
Reduces frequency of dosing through combined therapy in a single tablet
Helps prevent diabetes-related complications with sustained glycaemic control

How It Works
Glimepiride (sulfonylurea) stimulates pancreatic beta cells to secrete more insulin, directly lowering blood glucose. Metformin (biguanide) reduces hepatic glucose production, delays intestinal glucose absorption, and increases peripheral insulin sensitivity. Pioglitazone (thiazolidinedione) activates PPAR-gamma receptors in fat, muscle, and liver cells, increasing their sensitivity to insulin and improving glucose uptake from the blood. Together, these three mechanisms provide synergistic and sustained blood sugar control.

Side Effects
Common side effects include low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia), stomach pain, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, headache, metallic taste, and fluid retention (oedema). Metformin rarely causes lactic acidosis — seek immediate medical help if you experience unusual muscle pain, breathing difficulty, stomach pain, or dizziness. Monitor blood sugar regularly during treatment.

Safety Advice
Do not skip meals while taking this medicine — risk of hypoglycaemia increases with irregular eating.
Avoid alcohol as it increases the risk of hypoglycaemia and lactic acidosis.
Not recommended in patients with severe kidney or liver disease, type 1 diabetes, or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Regular monitoring of blood glucose, kidney function, and liver enzymes is recommended during treatment.
Inform your doctor if planning pregnancy.
Pioglitazone may cause fluid retention — use with caution in patients with heart failure.

Storage
Store below 30°C in a cool, dry place. Protect from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
